- Please note that the SDT series requires the connection of a 12V battery.
- When you use this AUTOOL SDT203 EVAP Smoke Machine for the first time, fill it with 10-15ml oil. Please be careful NOT to beyond this range.
- Before use, gently turn the knob to open the airflow regulator valve.
- The testing liquid: both liquid paraffin and baby oil are OK.
- Fresh oil can be filled with only when the smoke gets thin, and it can’t be filled over 15ml each time.
- Before filling fresh oil, please pour out the left oil in the detector & replace the detector oil regularly.
- During the process of leak detection, please keep away from smoke-sensitive parts.
- Do not run the Car Smoke Leak Detector for over 8 minutes continuously. It needs interval rest.
- The detector has an intelligent protector, if it exceeds the working limit, such as over 75 ℃, it will automatically turn off the power. In this case, please operate it later.
- The round part of this detector has temperature, please be careful to avoid burns.

How To Use The AUTOOL SDT203 EVAP Smoke Machine?
- Step 1: Fill 10-15ml baby oil into the detector for the first time. Open the engine cover, and hang the detector in the cover.
- Step 2: Disconnect the pipe that needs to be connected to the detector.
- Step 3: Connect the detector with the DC12V battery, turn on the power switch, and the detector starts to work.
- Step 4: In about 30 seconds, the pipe will be filled with smoke. Check the leak points. Please use a headlamp if necessary.

What testing oil should be added into AUTOOL smoke leak detectors ?
If you can’t find a professional test oil, you can buy liquid paraffin or baby oil at your local store as test oil.
How much testing oil should be added into the auto smoke leak detector?
It’s suggested to add 10-20ml testing oil for the first trial. Please drain some testing oil out if you add too much accidentally. You can reuse the extra next time.
Can smoke leak detectors detect auto A/C system?
Since the auto A/C system is not an ordinary pipeline system, the output pressure generated by the air-conditioning compressor is 1.7-3.0Mpa, while our smoke leak detectors can only generate 0.1 Mpa output pressure. So the smoke leak detector cannot directly test the auto A/C system for leaks. You can use our machine to perform segment-assisted testing for air-conditioning pipelines.
How to use a smoke leak detector to perform a segmental auxiliary test on the air conditioning pipeline?
First, press the air pump into the air-conditioning pipeline to increase the system pressure, and then spray the smoke along the air-conditioning pipeline. I’ve struggled with EVAP leaks for months until I got this AUTOOL smoke detector. Setup is a breeze, and smoke starts in seconds. The external gauges take the guesswork out of testing—I can see exactly if there’s a leak. No extra air pump needed, which saves time and money. It’s small, lightweight, and easy to store, plus the included adapters fit all my vehicles. The safety features are top-notch, and it works on my car, motorcycle, and ATV. If you need to find leaks quickly, this is the tool to buy!
Works really well. Unit uses fluid like baby oil to produce smoke. I’ve used it a few times already. Both to find leaks on the intake side and also the exhaust side.
For the exhaust side, I really like the inflatable airbag you pressurize. Stick it in the tail pipe, pump it up until it inflates to the size of the tailpipe and there is no more air gapes between them, then pump the exhaust full of smoke to find your exhaust leak.
Does what it’s supposed to do. Don’t know if it would last in a shop where it would get used constantly but great cost effective alternative for DIY’s.
It helped me a lot to detect the vacuum leak; I had been looking for it for over a week.
This little device is fantastic—small, practical, and high-quality. I’d had a problem with my EcoSport for a couple of years, and after using a scanner that led me to replace a bunch of sensors, this little machine diagnosed it in minutes.
1. It indicated a vacuum leak that I could never detect with the naked eye (I’d already tried using cigarette smoke).
2. An EGR valve that only malfunctioned at high speeds (not at idle), making it undetectable when the vehicle was in park. I highly recommend it.
