Smoke Leak Detectors, you’ll need this checklist!

The customer often asked, ‘Is this automotive smoke machine broken?’

But after we checked, it turned out they just forgot to add the smoke oil. 😅

The AUTOOL vacuum leak tester is very easy to use, but if you miss some small details, it can easily lead to “misunderstandings”. So today, this self-check guide will help you solve minor issues on your own and save you time on after-sales support!

New vacuum smoke tester with no smoke output? Don’t worry, check these points first:

1. Please check which type of smoke oil you have added to the automotive smoke machine. We recommend using liquid paraffin or Johnson’s baby oil for testing. Stage smoke oil should not be used.
2. Please check if you have added too much smoke oil. We recommend adding 10 – 12 mL of smoke oil. Adding too much smoke oil can result in insufficient space for smoke to be produced.
3. Please open your smoke tester and check if the heating cotton has fallen off. If it has, please reinstall it before using the device.

 

After using the automotive smoke machine for a while, it suddenly stops producing smoke. How to fix it?

1. Please check whether the voltage reaches 12V after the machine is powered on (as shown in the image below). If there is no voltage, it may indicate that the mainboard is damaged.
2. If the voltage is normal, there are usually two possible situations:

A. If the machine is relatively new, it’s often due to too much smoke oil being added.

Solution: Pour out the excess oil and keep it around 15ml.

B. If the machine has been used for a long time, the heating cotton is likely burned (as shown in the image below).

Solution: Contact customer service to request a replacement heating cotton. The replacement tutorial is shown in the video below:

 

Device won’t start / No power?

1. Open the device casing and measure the input and output voltage of the voltage converter.
2. If there is no output from the converter, simply replacing this part should fix the issue. Please contact customer service to request a replacement voltage converter.

Just received your SDT103 vacuum leak tester, but it’s not producing smoke?

1. Smoke oil has been added correctly (15–20ml).
2. The air compressor is properly connected.
3. The flow meter ball is stuck and not moving.
Solution: Turn the SDT103 upside down. If the ball moves, the smoke output should return to normal. If the ball still doesn’t move, it indicates the flow meter is damaged. Please contact customer service to request a replacement flow meter.

SDT206 automotive smoke machine producing little smoke?

1. Please confirm whether the air source is connected. If not, refer to Step 2.
2. Directly unscrew the flow meter knob, press your hand over the knob opening, and check if the ball inside moves up and down.
3. If the flow meter is not working, it may be stuck. You can turn the machine upside down and check if the ball moves. If it doesn’t, it indicates that the flow meter is damaged. Please contact customer service to request a replacement flow meter.
4. If the flow meter works fine, please contact customer service to request a replacement air pump.

🔧Tips:

  • Please read the user manual carefully before use and follow the steps.
  • After each use, it’s recommended to clean any residual smoke oil to extend the lifespan of the device.
  • If you need to replace any parts (such as the sealing ring, smoke hose, etc.), please contact after-sales service to purchase the replacements.
