But recently, an American battery technology company called Our Next Energy (ONE) installed a new battery pack for the Tesla Model S. The battery’s energy density is as high as 207.3 kWh, which is more than double the density of the original car’s battery.
It is worth mentioning that the new battery pack’s increased density does not encroach on the space inside the car and is assembled and placed in the same space as the original battery pack, which means that the new battery pack has twice the energy density for the same volume!
The founder and CEO of ONE – Mujeeb Ijaz, said that the pure electric vehicles currently on sale are too easily affected by the external environment, such as running high-speed, low-temperature areas, mountain roads and other areas. Which are not friendly to the range performance of pure electric vehicles and are difficult to overcome.
He hopes that a new product called Gemini can make the pure electric car have a long enough range and good stability to solve the user’s range anxiety while also considering the cost and sustainable development.
It is understood that the Tesla Model S modified the ONE prototype battery pack in mid-December in the United States on the roads of Michigan for testing, in the actual test to 55 mph (88 km/h) speed, in a fully charged state traveled 752 miles (1210 km).
This is nearly 400 miles higher than the official 375 miles of the Tesla Model S and is still the result of the actual test, which was certified by a third party.

ONE’s CEO said that the battery pack is equipped with several different batteries, including high-energy cobalt-nickel batteries. Unfortunately, the mass production version of the battery pack is still under development and is expected to be officially implemented after 2023!
The increasing energy density is indeed a simple and brutal means to improve the range, but the test was only conducted in a more conventional environment and did not take into account how the battery performance in colder or higher temperature environments, as well as how the performance of charging and discharging, whether to shorten the recharge time, etc., not too comprehensive.
